Rise of the Tomb Raider

When Rise of The Tomb Raider was being first released, I was just starting to get into Tomb Raider. About 6 months later during Christmas I was given the physical 20thedition of the game, coming in a hard cover note book style case, showing off fan art from all around the word of Laura Croft.  After 12 hours of game play over the course of 8 months, I have finally finished the game! To be honest, I was sad that I finished the storyline as fast as I did.  However, I’m super excited for the next game.  But before we can talk about the next game in the Tomb Raider series, we need to talk about Rise of The Tomb Raider.

Rise of the Tomb Raider focus on finding the legendary city of Kitezh, while fighting Trinity before they reach the cities promise of immortality.  Laura is picking up not only from the last Tomb Raider game (2013) but from where her father left off in his search for the source of immortality. The storyline also expanded on Laura as a character to help explain why who she is and why she has made the choices she has, along with what it means to her about finding immortality.

When it comes to the design of the game it is flawless.  As I say about all of the games I’ve played, the graphics were very realistic, and I was amazed at how smooth everything ran on my console.  There was so much to explore and do in the game.  The side missions also helped expand the game play, adding additional storylines you can complete.  Though I haven’t completed every side mission, the few that I have done were really well made and I had a blast playing them.  The puzzle mechanics were probably one of the fun parts to play. The puzzles really made you think no how to solve it and what you had to do next to proceed.

Throughout Rise of the Tomb Raider, I felt that Laura was embracing the new path she has taken as the Tomb Raider.  However, I can see how she is battling mentally on what she wants to do and what’s right. This is also kind of the theme for the next game the developers where talking about it.  Based off of her decisions she can basically be considered the villain in the game because of how she goes about her search.  This was definitely a eye opener on what Laura things compared to what you want to think.

Thank you everyone for reading.  I can’t wait to play more to Rise of the Tomb Raider and I hope that if you get the chance, I would highly recommend you get a copy of the game to play for yourself. This is a must play game if I do say so myself.

Until next time,

  1. Thanks for posting! I've always wanted to play the Time raider games but I never ended up getting them for some reason!

  2. I love the Tomb Raider games and played the first three on my Windows 95 PC when they were first released. Showing my age! My favourite was Tomb Raider 4 where you started off playing as a teenage Lara Croft. I'm looking forward to playing the new game.
